Total Time 45 minutes

Ingredients

For the Dough:
  • 2 cups warm milk about 110°F
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 packet 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • ½ cup unsalted butter melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 to 5 cups all-purpose flour
For the Filling:
  • ½ cup unsalted butter softened
  • 4 cloves garlic finely minced
  • ¼ cup chopped fresh parsley
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method

Prepare the Dough:
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast over the top and let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes, or until the mixture becomes frothy.
  2. Stir in the melted butter, eggs, and salt. Gradually add the flour, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  3. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5 to 7 minutes, or until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 to 1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
Prepare the Filling:
  1. In a small bowl, mix the softened butter with the minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and pepper until fully combined.
Shape the Rolls:
  1. After the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a rectangle measuring approximately 12×18 inches.
  2. Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over the surface of the dough. Starting from the long edge, roll the dough up tightly into a log, then slice into 12 equal pieces.
Second Rise:
  1. Arrange the rolls cut-side up in a greased baking dish. Cover them loosely and let rise for another 30 to 45 minutes, or until puffy.
Bake:
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 20 to 25 minutes, or until golden brown. Allow them to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

To enhance the flavor, you can mix grated cheese into the garlic butter filling.
While these rolls are best enjoyed warm, they can be stored at room temperature for up to two days.
